Bird Feeders

The most common feeders are the hopper, large and small hole tube feeders and tray. There are variations within each of these feeders and certain species of birds are more attracted to one than another. Do not buy inexpensive feeders because if squirrels are able to get to your feeder, they will damage or ruin those that are inexpensive. Always look for those that are squirrel proof or resistant to squirrel damage.

Clean your feeder regularly. Typically, once a month is a good rule of thumb. To clean your feeder, wash it with soap and warm water and then sterilize it with one part bleach to ten parts water.

Keep your feeders full. Birds are constantly in need of food. Without it they will leave.
